An important warning about the P650 form
All persons participating in Try Shooting must complete a NSW Police Force Firearms Registry P650 Declaration – Person shooting on an Approved Range or undertaking a Firearms Safety Training Course.
This form is a LEGAL DECLARATION.
These forms are audited directly by NSW POLICE.
You must read and understand all sections and declare information TRUTHFULLY.
False declarations or statements may lead to CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION AND PROSECUTION.
If you are at all unsure about any part of the P650 Declaration form, you MUST seek advice from the NSW Firearms Registry or facility staff before making a booking.
Sydney Try Shooting Experiences
SSAA Sydney offers Try Shooting Experiences at Anzac Rifle Range in Sydney’s East (weekends only refer to the Calendar), Silverdale Rifle Range in Sydney’s West and Holroyd Rifle Range (Greystanes – perfect for larger groups).
This is perfect for beginners to test their skills, try different rifles, and have some fun. Come along and enjoy a day of friendly competition, expert guidance, and a chance to try out different firearms.
WHAT YOU GET TO TRY:
- Different types of firearms (depending on the venue) examples include a .22 rimfire rifle, a .223 centrefire bolt action rifle, a .308 centrefire bolt action rifle and/or a 12 gauge shotgun
- Varying distances depending on the venue

- Basic operations of a firearm
- Explanation of range operations

On the day of your event, it is a legal requirement for each participant to complete an official Police declaration form NSW – P650.
For participants under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must be in attendance and sign the forms on the day.
All participants must have a valid driver’s licence or passport (original documents not digital).
