Silverdale Range
Silverdale Rifle Range, owned and operated by SSAA Sydney Branch, is one of the finest complexes of its type in Australia and our flagship range. It successfully hosted the 2013 World Benchrest Championships.
The range is located in Sydney’s west, at 395 Avoca Rd Silverdale. To get there, from the F4 freeway, take the Mulgoa Rd exit and head south (left if heading out of Sydney), turn right at the Wallacia Hotel, follow the signs through Silverdale, and Avoca Rd is about 4km on the left past the Silverdale township, you will see the familiar SSAA logo on the sign. Follow the dirt road for about 4km and you reach the range complex, signalled by a red flag. There is a 40km speed limit on Avoca Rd.
The range was originally built by benchrest shooters in the early 70’s, and has now expanded operations to include pistol, shotgun, rimfire fly, silhouette, and single action, as well as benchrest.
The complex is quite extensive, and all shooting areas are sound baffled and undercover. There is an air-conditioned canteen and reloading room, with full facilities.
We have some ammunition available for sale to members at the range, in popular calibres such as .22, .223, .308 and 12g shotgun (clays only).
New shooters can take advantage of our “try shooting” program, which can be booked here. Juniors need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Silverdale range is a government-licensed rifle range, and attendances qualify for licence currency requirements.
Generally, we are open 7 days a week from 9 am to 3.45 pm. However, we are closed on all public holidays and the 3rd Monday of each month (allocated for range maintenance). If in doubt, or you need directions, please call us on 02 46531440.

RESTRICTED CALIBRES AT SILVERDALE RANGE
Due to the conditions of the Silverdale range approval issued by the NSW Firearms Registry, the use of calibres with a retained energy exceeding 3,000 foot-pounds at 200 metres is not permitted.
Anzac Range, Malabar
SSAA Sydney now has the use of the Service Range every Saturday from 9:30am – 3:30pm. In addition we open the Range on the first and third Sunday of the month. A Calendar of events and distances is posted on our website – see Calendar & Events page. We do need more volunteers – each time that we get 9 more volunteers will mean that we can open the range on an additional Sunday a month.
When transporting your firearm/s to the Anzac Range, be aware that the Range Standing Orders at Anzac allow a bolt to be in the rifle only when you are lined up on the target on the firing line and ready to shoot. This means that you must have the bolt out of your rifle when you arrive at the range. Where the bolt cannot be removed from the action, a trigger lock is to be fitted.
When you arrive at the Anzac Range, tell the person on the boom gate that you are shooting with SSAA and proceed to the SSAA tent out on the range. You will have to shoot in order to register an attendance. Club .22 rifles will be available for hire with a refundable deposit for members, and ammunition may be purchased from the NSWRA shop, which sells a wide range of ammunition and shooting gear. Rimfire rifles and centrefire rifles up to 8mm (but no magnums) can be used. Ear and eye protection is mandatory, as are enclosed shoes.
Refreshments are available from the NSWRA canteen on Saturdays.

Holroyd Rifle Range (Greystanes)
The Holroyd Rifle Range at Greystanes is open on Friday and Sunday nights, from 6.00pm to 9.00pm. 22LR rifles (or air rifles up to .22 calibre) only. General practice shooting both nights. On Sunday night licensed target shooters can participate in an ongoing IRB competition.
Holroyd Rifle Range is situated on Hyland Rd (off Gipps Rd) at Greystanes.
Holroyd Rifle Range is a smallbore outdoor .22 calibre 50 metre range.
Casual shooters are welcome. Holroyd range is a government licenced rifle range, and attendances qualify for licence currency requirements.

Hornsby Range
Hornsby Range is situated at Hornsby Heights, off the Pacific Highway. Take the signposted GALSTON at Hookhams Corner. After the turnoff, follow the well signposted route with signs that will indicate either Hornsby Rifle Range or Mt Wilga Hospital. The range entrance is adjacent to the hospital. After passing the Hospital then follow the dirt road down the range for 500m and turn left into the 100m range 300m before the NRA butts.
The range is open Thursdays 1:00pm – 4:00pm, Fridays 9:00am – 12:00pm and almost every Sunday from 1:00pm to 3:30pm provided the day does not clash with a NRA special shooting day.
Activities at Hornsby Range include benchrest at 50m on the 100m range, and benchrest and field positions at 100m, 200m or 300m when we are on the main range (check the range calendar under Calendar & Events).
Hornsby range is a government licenced rifle range, and attendances qualify for target and hunting licence requirements.
ALERT – NO CENTREFIRES on the 100m Range at Hornsby! – the 100m range can only be used for rimfire. We do have the use of the main range every Thursday and Friday and about twice a month on Sundays for C/F shooting. Check the calendar (link is on our home page) to see if we are shooting C/F on the main range, or R/F on the 100m range.
St Marys Indoor Shooting Range

St Marys Indoor Shooting Centre is located at 30 Power St, St Marys and is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 10pm and Sunday 10am to 6pm. Telephone (02) 8889 0406.
The St Marys complex is Australia’s largest indoor shooting range, is fully air-conditioned and features a well stocked gun shop. There are 1 x 25 metre and 3 x 50 metre ranges suitable for both rimfire and centrefire rifle shooting as well as pistol shooting. On-site safe storage lockers are available for hire.
The range is closed on Public Holidays.
