Dear SSAA Sydney Branch Members,
We are absolutely thrilled to share some fantastic news regarding the Silverdale Range approval – a massive milestone that corrects a recent decision and restores the range approval to its original specifications, which have been in operation for over 60 years!
After close consultation and collaboration with the NSW Firearms Registry and the SSAA NSW Compliance teams, we have successfully rectified the most recent range approval to align with the original long-standing approval, ensuring our members continue to enjoy the range as intended.
Here’s what we’ve achieved:
✅ Main Range (200 metres) – Now officially restored to its original approval with QE max 7.59° (135 mils) and an energy limit of 4,070 joules (3,000 ft-lbs)!
✅ Main Range (50 metres) – Also restored with QE max 7.59° (135 mils) and 4,070 joules (3,000 ft-lbs)!
But wait there’s more…
✅ Big Game Rifle Added! – Approved firearms can now be used on the range, a huge win for our big-bore enthusiasts!
✅ Shotgun Expansion! – We’ve secured approval for all gauges using 00 Buckshot up to 9.5 shot for patterning. Range users will be able to pattern common hunting loads… stay tuned for further details of when you can book in for patterning.
This is a monumental achievement that ensures our members have the best possible access to Silverdale while maintaining the highest compliance and safety standards. For over six decades, Silverdale has operated safely under these parameters, and we are proud to have successfully worked to correct the recent changes and reinstate the long-standing approval.
🙏🏻 We cannot thank the NSW Firearms Registry and SSAA NSW Compliance teams enough for their collaboration and commitment in making this happen. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This success is a testament to our dedication to protecting and enhancing shooting opportunities for our members—and we’re only getting started!
Now, let’s get out there and enjoy Silverdale like never before!
Silverdale is open 7 days a week 9.00 am to 3.45 pm daily.
