📢 Important Notice for SSAA Sydney Branch Members: Changes to Safe Storage of Firearms Legislation 📢
The NSW Police Force Firearms Registry has officially released updated information on safe storage requirements for firearms, following an extensive industry consultation process. These updates clarify legislative requirements and outline the standards approved by the Commissioner.
The changes include new Fact Sheets and Instruments of Approval, which are vital for understanding and complying with the updated legislation.
“”After an extensive industry consultation process, the NSWPF Firearms Registry is pleased to publish Fact Sheets for ‘Category A and B requirements Safe Storage Level 1’ and ‘Category C, D and H requirements Safe Storage Level 2’. They are both specifically focussed on the legislative requirements. As the legislation refers to things ‘approved by the Commissioner’, three separate ‘Instruments of Approval’ defining those approved requirements under Section 40 and 41 of the Firearms Act and also Clause 28B of the Firearm Regulations have also been published and are necessary accompaniments to the Fact Sheets.”” NSW Police Official Communication
